Crafty.

Maybe one of those good ideas the fortune cookie was talking about is this.  I made this hair clip holder (and the clips) for my friend’s daughter – a belated birthday gift, but at least I completed it within the same month as her birthday.

Sample anyone?

Last week Jay came home with a bounty of samples from work.  Here’s the tally: 3 loaves of gourmet sandwich bread, 1 Italian bakery loaf, 1 mini multigrain loaf, 1 baguette, 3lbs of fresh mozzarella, 5lbs of ricotta, 1 gallon of Greek vinaigrette, and finally 1 gallon of barbecue sauce.  Thank goodness for the second fridge/freezer in our garage.

Why I love spring.

Trees in bloom are feast for the senses.  I wish you could smell these delicate pear blossoms from my courtyard through the computer.

Minty promises.

The tiny mint sprigs that we planted in the ground last summer have sprung up again this year.  Mojitos, mint chutney, and any number of minty delights are on the horizon.

Here chikki, chikki.

Cashew chikki (Indian nut brittle) is one of my favorite things.  I’ve recently figured out how easy it is to make at home, so here’s my latest batch.

Twist of lemon.

I made lemon ricotta cookies yesterday and couldn’t resist capturing the twirls of lemon zest before mixing them into the recipe.
